Live Music vs Recorded

Music is life!

Music sets the mood for your event!

Music is the pulse of your event!

Do you go with live music or with a DJ or a combination? Think about your event and think about how you want you and your guests to feel. Is there a particular part of the event that is very special to you and will music help to enhance that feeling you're going for. We believe the most ideal situation is a combination of live and recorded music.

Based on our experience, here are 3 things to consider:

1. Budget: DJs generally cost less. Live music requires more attention to detail in booking (i.e. technical requirements for set up). Live music also requires your sound company to provide additional services to ensure the music is mixed properly and sounds good through the speakers so your band doesn't "look bad" (so be sure to let your sound company know you have live music!). These additional considerations increase your cost. 2. Desired Feel/Ambience: The way the music is delivered -- live or recorded -- contributes to the ambience. Do a playlist! Are there particular songs you want played at a particular time. Then consider if it can it be done live or does it have to be a recorded version. Live music is great for a climax or peak in your event; to highlight a very special moment. 3. Venue/Space: Tip - Live bands sound great outdoors but indoor venues offer better acoustics. Live music also requires more space in your layout for your event. Your venue can help determine which is the best type of music to use based on these factors.

Some suggested uses:

Wedding - Ceremony - live music; Reception - recorded Business Dinner - Recorded

Networking Event - Recorded

Holiday Party - Live

Will your guests be tapping their feet or covering their ears? (lol)

Whichever option you chose, ensure the sound company is aware of all the details around the music for your event as they are in control of how it all sounds to your guests!
